Flooring is a crucial aspect of home interior design that often doesn’t receive the attention it deserves. After all, the floor is the foundation upon which your living space is built and it cannot be left looking dull and drab.

If you own a luxury villa in Goa or are planning to purchase a luxury property there, and wondering what the latest flooring trends are, we have some top luxury flooring trends to suggest. Read below to find out varied flooring types and patterns that can help you design or redesign your favourite spaces with elegance and style.

Here are the top flooring design trends popular in 2024 and beyond that can elevate the luxury quotient of your home.

1. Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring (LVT):

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)  is a type of vinyl flooring that is designed to exude the appearance of a  wood, stone, or ceramic tile. They are a premier choice for flooring in luxury homes due to their strong and sturdy nature. They are also crack, scratch and water resistant. Luxury vinyl tiles are often installed in high traffic areas of a home or a commercial space, as they can withstand heavy wear and tear.

The benefit of using luxury vinyl flooring is that it can be installed in any living space, whether it’s bedroom, living room, luxurious bathroom, kitchen or balcony. These tiles are often a better alternative to ceramic tiles which are durable but can chip and crack with time. Additionally, they offer more sound insulation than a ceramic tile. There is no dearth of versatile styles and design options when working with luxury vinyl flooring. The practicality, ease of installation and maintenance of luxury vinyl tiles makes it one of most sought after flooring options.

2. Granite Flooring:

Granite is a type of igneous rock, forged after cooling down the rocks in high-pressure. Its composition has minerals like feldspar and quartz, injecting a glimmer to its appearance. Granite floors are remarkably strong, eco-friendly and non-porous. Typically, there are four finishing options for granite flooring- polished granite, brushed granite, honed granite, and flame granite.

Once installed, it exudes an alluring charm and captivating sophistication. Granite flooring style looks extremely attractive in outdoor areas such as backyard, patios, pathways, and for flooring around the  swimming pool area. Being water and stain resistant, the exquisite granite flooring is also suitable for moisture and dust prone areas. The elegant patterns and visually aesthetic designs of granite injects a luxe appeal to your villa’s flooring. Its availability in distinct colours and designs offers a wide variety to homeowners. Plus, being allergen proof it is also beneficial for people prone to allergies.

3. Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring:

Another flooring type has gained traction in 2024 and will continue to be popular is the wide plank hardwood flooring. As the name suggests, wide plank hardwood flooring refers to wide boards that range from approximately 6 to 20 inches in width. They are a perfect choice for creating a classic, luxurious feel, and adds an aestich value to your home. The big size of the hardwood floor incorporates a sense of openness and grandeur to any room, whether you choose to install them in the bedroom or the living room.

Hardwood flooring available in natural finishes and deep tones are some of the most sought after options amongst buyers. Whereas smooth and unperturbed wide plank flooring in softer shades is making its way into modern-styled luxury homes. Exotic wood material from trees like Oak, Birch, Pine and reclaimed timer add uniqueness and elegance.

4. Herringbone and Chevron Flooring

Herringbone and Chevron are design patterns which add a touch of luxury and opulence in high-end luxury homes. The Herringbone design consists of strategic placement of planks in a ‘zigzag’ pattern, cut at a 90 degree angle making an asymmetrical design (refer to the above image). Alternatively, Chevron wood flooring will give you a beautiful and symmetrical zigzag shaped pattern look. But the only difference here is that the wood planks of each board are cut at an angle of 45 degree and when joined together creates a ‘V’ sign. This type of flooring adds a striking and visual element to your luxury spaces.

5.  Marble and Porcelain Tiles

Marble and Porcelain tiles instantly lift up the appearance of any flooring. Large-format marble and porcelain tiles are increasingly favoured for their luxurious and seamless look. These materials are available in various colours and patterns, including the highly sought-after white, and grey with gold veining. Based on your budget and preference you can choose either marble or porcelain tile flooring.

Marble is a luxury material and is heavier and of high quality than porcelain. Both marble and porcelain are strong and durable however, porcelain flooring tiles are ideal for heavy traffic areas. When it comes to aesthetics, Marble flooring  has more appeal than porcelain, its timeless elegance and sophistication adds to the value of your real estate.

6. Terrazzo Flooring

Terrazzo is an Italian flooring style renowned for its unique, spotted and highly customizable features. Terrazzo flooring is made from blended materials used for making walls and floors. These composite materials include marble chips, quartz, granite, and  colourful glass. All the materials are combined with a binder that is either cementitious, polymeric, or a combination of both. Think of colourful mosaic pieces spread uniformly on a muted canvas, that is how Terrazzo flooring appears in high-end homes. This flooring style looks spectacular in a Living room, bathroom and patios.
